Facor Alloys Limited, the largest producer and exporter of ferro alloys in India, announced that it will suspend its ferrochrome manufacturing facilities in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, effective from July 15, 2023, until further notice.
The shutdown was due to high input costs and the current low market prices that resulted in negative margins. Besides, the company is also facing higher alloy smelting costs due to the sharply increased electricity prices.
Facor Alloys, India’s largest ferrochrome producer, has an annual capacity of 250 ktpa and has the capacity to produce 81.3 ktpa of charge chrome/ferrochrome with a 100 MW power plant in Bhadrak, Odisha.
