At the beginning of the week, the price of high carbon ferrochrome remained stable, with Chinese ferrochrome prices ranging from 7,000-7,200 yuan/ton; Although the market slightly bottomed out and rebounded last week, the overall room for increase is relatively limited. After all, the Spring Festival holiday is approaching in China, and industry players are also preparing for the holiday. The market lacks sustained driving force.

The price of chrome ore remains stable and moving forward, although there has been a slight increase in futures quotes. Last Friday (January 17), the new round of offers for 40-42% South African chrome concentrate powder (chromium / iron ratio 1.3) futures at Tianjin Port was $203/ton, a slight increase of $3/ton compared to the previous round (December 30, 2024), with a shipping date before the end of March 2025; In addition, overseas mines have announced that they will cease selling chrome ore in the first quarter of 2025. However, this has limited potential to further boost the spot market, as the Spring Festival holiday is approaching and market inquiries and transactions are gradually coming to a halt.
